Merry Go Round Stained Glass is a family business that has been serving the Metro Detroit area and beyond for almost 50 years. With two locations, we can meet all of your stained glass and fused glass needs. Our staff of talented and experienced artisans has the knowledge and the skill to create and restore stained glass pieces that will be enjoyed for generations. We handle your stained glass repairs with care and expertise. We share our love of stained glass with the community by offering a number of comprehensive classes. We carry and sell all of the glass, supplies, tools, and equipment, you need to complete your own stained glass and fused glass projects. We are the number one resource for stained glass and fused glass in Metro Detroit.
Our design studio in Troy produces the highest quality stained glass windows, doors, sidelights, transoms, suncatchers, jewelry boxes, and lampshades. We combine the finest quality materials with old-world techniques and American craftsmanship to produce shimmering works of art. Merry Go Round specializes in leaded, beveled, and sandblasted windows, doors, and cabinet door inserts. We can also perform repairs and restorations of any size, type, or age.
Our flagship retail location in Clinton Township carries the finest art glass supplies in-stock, at great prices. Our knowledgeable staff is here to help you. We have a huge selection of art glass in-stock, but if we don’t have that special color you need, just ask- we’ll do what it takes to get it promptly. We offer classes in a variety of glass arts, including stained glass, mosaics, glass fusing, and bead-making. Where is MGR Stained Glass located?
Merry Go Round has two locations in the metro Detroit area. Our flagship retail location is in Clinton Township, Michigan, and our design studio is located in Troy, Michigan. Our Clinton Township location is open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Saturday. Our Troy location is open by appointment only.
Can you repair centuries-old stained glass pieces?
Yes, we have the skill, knowledge, and experience to restore your historic stained glass pieces with care. Our staff will use original materials and techniques whenever possible to bring your piece back to its original state.
Can you alter a stained glass piece’s color?
Most glass pieces can not be re-colored. Glass pieces can be replaced with different pieces, and sizes and framing materials can be changed.
Does MGR Stained Glass design and install custom orders of stained glass?
Yes, we are always happy to help when you need a high quality, custom stained glass piece. Our artisans are masters in their craft, and can bring your ideas to life as beautiful and unique works of art. Stained glass art is perfect for beautifying your windows and doors, and can make a great gift. When you need a unique present that will be treasured for years to come, a beautiful work of stained glass is exactly what you need.
I want to learn how to create stained glass art. Do you have classes?
Yes, we regularly hold classes at our Clinton Township location. Our instructors teach the same techniques we use in our own studios We provide you with the knowledge and support you need to create your own beautiful stained glass pieces. Periodic classes have focused on mosaics, decorative soldering, Tiffany-style lamp making, advanced lead, and similar topics. We also offer bead-making and fusing classes. Please call the Clinton Township location for current class offerings and schedules.
Do you have classes for beginners?
Yes, we have classes tailored for those who have never created stained glass art before. We know how difficult it can be to get started, and our staff will ease you in, teaching you about the foundations of stained glass crafting, so you can fully understand the process. We also offer intermediate and advanced classes. If you enjoy your first class, and want to learn more, these classes are a great opportunity to continue honing your skills, and to develop mastery of additional new techniques.
How much do classes cost?
Our Beginning Stained Glass classes cost $200 for 12 instructional hours. Students attend a 2 ½ hour class once a week, for 5 weeks, and complete one small panel. All materials and use of tools and equipment are included. Intermediate and Advanced Workshop classes cost $125 for a 2 ½ hour class, once a week, for 5 weeks. Students work on their own project, and provide all materials. We provide use of tools and equipment. Beginning Fusing classes cost $75 for one, 2 ½ hour class, where students make several small fused pieces, and everything is included in the cost.
Do I receive any discounts while I take classes?
Yes, you do! Students receive a 10% discount on glass and supplies while taking classes.
Do I receive any discounts while I’m taking class?
Yes, you do! Our students receive a 15% discount on glass and supplies during class and for one week after class concludes.
How many students are in each class?
We have a maximum enrollment of 6 students per class. This allows our instructors the ability to provide more hands-on guidance, individual attention, and improves the class experience for everyone.
Is there parking at your locations?
Yes, we have ample free, handicap accessible parking available at both locations.
